Bigot-Husky R.A.S.C. Admin Instr No.1 issued to units.

 

1100 - G.O.C. inspected locations of Headqrs & 93 Comp Coy.

 

3rd July 1943

75 sets of Parachute Harness used from ADOS dump.

 

1300 - G.O.C. had lunch with Comds. & Officers H.Q. R.A.S.C., and OsC 93 and 250 Coys.

 

4th July 1943

Visited Airlanding, 1 and 2 Para Bdes re Transport for Exercise.

 

5th July 1943

Amdt. No.1 to R.A.S.C. Adm Instr No.1 issued together with Appendix "C".

 

6th July 1943

0530 - Lt. Rogers proceeded with 3 x 3 ton vehicles to collect usual containers for mosquito cream and mepacrine.

 

0900 - Coy Comds Conference - Transport and supplies prepacked discussed.

 

1045 - C.R.A.S.C. attended Conference at Adv. Div. H.Q. Base Control.

 

1430 - Fire on Ammunition Dump.  Explosives blown up and tents, G.1098 stores etc. of H.Q. R.A.S.C. destroyed by fire.  Vehicles evacuated.

 

1730 - H.Q. Detachment moved to 93 Coy Lines.

 

2000 - C.R.A.S.C. went over to Ammunition Dump and directed Fire Fighting Operations.

 

2230 - Adj. went over to Amn. Dump and stopped there until blaze put out.  Went from there to Olive Groves where trees were burning and stopped there until fires put out.

 

9th July 1943

Place: Sousse

 

0700 - Div. R.A.S.C. H.Q. opened up in new location.

 

0900 - Adjutant proceeded to DADOS & obtained clothing etc for men.

 

0930 - Comd. R.A.S.C. & Major Scott proceeded to Base Control.

 

1230 - 153 x 3-ton lorries laid on for movement of troops from A/L Bde. Location to Airfields in connection with Operation HUSKY.

 

10th July 1943

0800 - Adjutant proceeded to Constantive to get L.1398 made up, as all office equipment & stationery destroyed in fire.

 

0900 - Comds R.A.S.C. attended a Conference re Operation "Husky".

 

11th July 1943

1600 - Adjutant returned from Constantive with L.1398 stationery.

 

12th July 1943

0900 - 120 x 3-ton lorries sent to location of 1 Para Bde HQrs to convey troops to Airfields.  10 x 3-ton lorries sent off to Constantive to collect Roller Conveyors.

 

16th July 1943

28 x 3-ton lorries - Supply by Air Organisation.

 

17th July 1943

Capt Thomas with 2 x 3-ton lorries proceeded to Tripoli to collect 15,000 usual containers.  42 x 3-ton vehicles transferred from 250 Coy (B) to 253 Coy.

 

18th July 1943

1400 - 30 x 3-ton vehicles reported to Level Crossing 9532 to collect men of 2 Para Bde.

 

19th July 1943

1400 - 48 x 3-ton vehicles reported to 4 Para Bde location for Exercise.  Report on activities of R.A.S.C. 1 Airborne Divn sent out.  Special Order of the Day in connection with Operation Husky sent out.

 

31st July 1943

"Action Stations" for Exercise "DIM".  Field Returns.
