1400 - Ammunition Dump behind Unit Camp exploded damaging a large amount of equipment and tentage. Only three slight casualties.
8th July 1943
Place: Sousse area
Pilots moved on to respective Aerodromes in preparations for take-off on Exercise BIGOT - HUSKEY and General Sir Bernard Montgomery inspected pilots.
9th July 1943
Place: Sousse area
1930 - Pilots took off on operation BIGOT - HUSKEY. 145 gliders took off and 15 forced landed in area. Remainder of gliders met very rough weather and bad moonlight. Some gliders were forced down in the sea.
10th July 1943
Place: Sousse area
Ascertained that about 90 Gliders landed in SICILY. These were wildly scattered owing to the strong wind. Troops of Air Landing Bde who were unable to form into a Unit and fought in small bands. Glider pilots, after landing, took part in the fighting and assisted in the holding of the bridge which led to the capture of SYRACUSE.
13th July 1943

10 HORSA and 8 WAACO Gliders took off on Exercise FUSTIAN. 2 WAACOs forced landed owing to failure on take-off.
15th July 1943
Place: Sousse area
First party of Pilots who took part in operation BIGOT-HUSKY returned to camp, numbering 94 Officers and men.
17th July 1943

23 Officers and 235 O.Rs arrived from U.K.
21st July 1943
Place: Sousse area
Night flying training commenced.
30th July 1943
Place: Sousse area
No: 2 Squadron proceeded to Rest Camp for 48 hours.
