1. Capture.
At Diepenne, Tunis, on 3 Dec 1942 at 1100 hrs. during airborne attack on aerodrome. Source was wounded in left arm.
2. Camps in which imprisoned.
Camp 66, Capua: Dec 1942 to 26 Jan 1943
Caserta Hospital: Jan to 7 Oct 1943.
3. Attempted Escapes.
Camp 66, Capua on 26 Jan 1943. Source attempted to escape but was unsuccessful and was wounded in both legs, explosive bullets used, from automatic gunfire. He was ill-treated by troops and sent to Hospital Militare De Caserta, Naples.
4. Release.
Source was released by British troops on 7 Oct 1943 along with 117 others from above Hospital.
There were a mixed lot of troops there, including Infantry from D.L.I., York & Lancs Regt. and a few American Troops. Also a Spitfire Pilot and a Capt. Hudson of D.L.I. who was i/c Troops at the Hospital.
