(i) 15 (S) Div is aslting on two Bde front in the gen areas BISLICH 1442 and NEHR 1248 - HAFFEN 1149 at H hr on D day. Subsequently 15 (S) Div will capture brs over the ISSEL West of DINGDEN 2253 and relieve 6 Brit Airborne Div in area HAMMINKELN 2048.
(ii) 1 Cdo Bde is to aslt in the area of GRAV INSEL 1841 and H - 2 hrs D Day and captured WESEL 2240.
(b) 30 Corps is aslting in the vicinity of REES, 0752.
(c) NINTH US Army is co-operating SOUTH of WESSEL 2240 especially as regards fire sp.

See Appx C and att Trace P. Tgts shown in RED on trace are being engaged in the preliminary bombardment by 12 Corps Arty and will remain on call thereafter to 6 Airborne Div Arty and all Arty in sp. Tgts shown in BLUE are being recorded by all arty in sp and are on call to 6 Airborne Div only.
12. DF
(a) Prearranged tgts will be registered by FOO's of 2 FOU at the earliest opportunity. For this purpose prearranged tgts will be suballotted to FOO's by OC 2 FOU.
(b) Prearranged tgts on the fronts of 5 Para Bde and 6 Airldg Bde will be registered also by CP's of 53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt.
13. Calls for Fire
Fire of sp arty will be called for as follows:-
(a) U Tgts - can be answered by the three fd regts of 52 (L) Div Arty (if in range), the two med regts in close sp and the 53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt.
(b) Y Tgts - can be answered by the above with the addition of 8 AGRA.
(c) V Tgts - will be answered with all arty that can bear.
(d) Requests for fire of 8 AGRA for immediate opportunity tgts will be put by HQRA direct to 8 AGRA.

18. A Tk. - Div res of one tp 6-pdr and one sec 17-pdr will be sited with the task of protecting Div HQ and gun area from the WEST and SW.
19. Mortars - 4.2" mortar tp 6 AARR will come into action in area shown in trace P att and will have a WS on each of 53 Airldg Lt Regt's Bty Comd nets. They can be called upon to fire by any OP through the BC at 5 and 6 Para Bde HQ's.
20. CM - 2 FOU will provide a CMO at HQRA, one ACMO at each Bde HQ and one listening post with each of 3 and 5 Para Bdes.
21. Indication of tgts to air
(a) RED smoke only will be used.
(b) 53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt will be prepared to fire coloured smoke from either the sec 25-pdr or from 75 mm.

One Flt 659 AOP Sqn will op in sp 6 Airborne Div and will be on a regt'l net as decided by CRA 52 (L) Div.

(a) Comns will be est in accordance with diagrams (Appendicies E and W2 to 6 Airborne Div Sigs OO No.1) and wrls schedule (Appx F).
(b) RA Sp Net
(1) One codesign only will be used for the net. Stas will be designated by affix numbers.
(2) Tuning calls will be the three letter codesign allotted to the net.
(3) Gp calls will be as follows:- (e.g. Codesign ABC)
"All Stas ABC" means, All stas on the net.
"All stas ABC 11 means all stas with affix numbers between 11 and 20 incl.
"All Stas 22" means 22 and all stas with affix numbers above 22.
(4) Order of answering will be numerical.
(5) Each sp regt (or fmn) to which an Airborne Div LO is attached will provide a set (19 HP or Cdn 9 if possible) with which to est comns on the RA Sp Net whilst the LO's set is engaged on the Bde FOO frequency. The regtl set will bear the same affix number as the LO's set plus the letter "A". When the LO flicks to the sp net the regtl set will flick to the Bde FOO net, and vice versa.
(6) The fd regts of 52 (L) Div will be referred to on the RA Sp Net (and on the 3 Para Bde FOO net) as 29B, 29C, and 29D respectively, in order of seniority.
(7) The step up set (affix 30) will initially be control sta. It will send tuning and netting calls at P hr to P + 2 mins, P + 10 to P + 12 mins P + 20 to P + 22 mins etc. HQRA will est comn as an outstation using affix 14. On the comd of CRA 6 Airborne Div HQRA will assume control, by infm all stas in clear; Step up will then use affix 30.
(8) HQRA will order the Airborne Div LO's to flick to and from the RA Sp net by passing a codeword to the Bde FOO or the LO respectively.
(9) Stas 27, 28, and sta 24 until in action in sp 6 Airborne Div will not transmit unless called by another sta. They will not be given tuning and netting calls, but will answer gp calls as per sub, sub-para (3) above.

(11) Sta 24 will est comn on both flicks when regt becomes available to sp 6 Airborne Div.
(12) Alternative frequency for RA Sp Net is 2544 this will be brought into use by codeword FREDA followed by time.
(c) Bde FOO Nets
(1) One codesign only will be allotted to each net.
(2) Tuning call will be the three letter codesign allotted to the net.
(3) Order of answering will be numerical.
(4) The Airborne Div LO will initially be control sta. It will send out tuning and netting calls from P hr to P + 2 mins, from P + 10 to P + 12 mins, from P + 20 to P + 22 mins etc. Bde FOO will est comns as an outstation affix 11, 12 or 13. On the comd of the Bde FOO his sta will assume control by informing all stas in clear; LO's will use affixes 22, 23, 29, and 24.
(5) Codewords at Appx "G".
(d) RA Comd Net
(1) Normal codesigns and procedure will be used.
(e) CM Net
(1) One codesign only will be allotted to this net.
(2) Tuning call will be the three letter codesign.
(3) Order of answering will be numerical.
(4) The net will not be opened until ordered by HQRA 6 Airborne Div.
(f) 53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt RA Comd Net and Bty Nets
As ordered by OC 53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt.
(g) 2 Airldg A Tk Regt RA Comd Net and Bty Nets
As ordered by OC 2 Airldg A Tk Regt.
(h) CRA Infm Net
(1) Will only be opened on request from RA 52 (L) Div or RA 6 Airborne Div over the RA sp net.
(2) RA 6 Airborne Div will be control.
(i) XVIII Corps FD and Arty Liaison Nets
(1) Set at HQRA will open on landing on Arty Liaison frequency.
(2) It will be prepared to flick to FD frequency if ordered by XVIII Corps.
25. DR
53 (WY) Airldg Lt Regt and 2 Airldg A Tk Regt will detail 2 and 1 DR's respectively to report to HQRA as soon as possible on landing, to form a DR pool at HQRA.
26. Codes
(a) Current 6 Airborne Div codesigns extracts will be used and are held within regts of sp arty.
(b) 6 Airborne Div RA SLIDEX Keys will be used on nets as shown in wrls schedule (Appx F) and within regts down to Btys of all sp arty for all purposes incl map refs.
(c) 6 Airborne Div MAPLAY will be used on all nets as shown in wrls schedule (Appx F).
27. Recognition
(1) Recognition sign between airtps and ground forces will be the displaying of yellow celanese triangles. These will be carried by all tps of 6 Brit Airborne Div, aslting tps of 15 (S) Div, 1 Cdo Bde and 17 US Div (Airborne).
(2) Red berets may be worn after the initial drop as an aid to recognition.
(3) Ground to air - fluorescent panels.
(4) Lt sigs may be used by inf during the aslt phase to indicate unit RVs etc.
(5) Lt Sigs other than above will NOT be used.
