Report on Op KGF to CO.  Thus ends the fortnight for which we have trained and fought for nearly six years.  The Bty has been very fortunate.  Little sickness, practically no crime.  Eight killed, one missing, one offr and thirteen men wounded, most of them slightly.  Svy regts get little rest, and are often remote from Welfare, but the doggedness and uncomplaining determination of the men have been remarkable.  OPs and APs have been invariably, and all HQs usually, within Fd gun and NBW range of the FDLs, but only three or four of the men have shown any loss of nerve.  I am proud to have commanded them.

16th to 31st May 1945 Inclusive

Place: Kiel

During this period the Battery has supplied guards for two clothing stores, two food stores, a wireless station and a Mil Gov HQ.  The scale of the guards has been such as to require both NCOs and men to be on guard rather more than one night in two.  The commitments are expected to diminish in the near future.  The Battery has now centralised practically all its technical stores on the FSp and SRg sides, but has left Svy stores with Y Tp in case of the incidence of svy commitments.  Welfare has continued sparse and of indifferent quality, but a beginning has been made with sports, for which, however, more apparatus will be very welcome.
