The memorial to the 52nd Light Infantry, i.e. the 2nd Battalion The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. The inscription reads, "In memory of all those who gave their lives during the Airborne landing at Hamminkeln on 24th March 1945. This tree has been planted by comrades on the 50th pilgrimage - Rhine Crossing 1995. At the going down of the Sun and in the morning we will remember them." Copyright: Mark Stevenson.
