Private John William Riddell

5126987 Private John William "Bill" Riddell of the 8th Parachute Battalion. He was born in born in Nuneaton on the 12th March 1923, and was enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on the 29th June 1942, being posted to the 13th Battalion shortly before it was converted into the 8th Parachute Battalion. Having completed Parachute Course No.44, Riddell served with them in Normandy, the Ardennes and on the Rhine Crossing. He was killed in action on the 24th March 1945. Copyright: Gerald Southam.
