At the River Simeto on the 14th July, 1943, Corporal Tynan under heavy mortar and machine gun fire attended to a gravely wounded man. He then carried the man, having rendered first aid, some 300 yards to the Regimental Aid Post under heavy machine gun fire. Corporal Tynan showed a complete disregard for his own safety throughout the action in going to the assistance of the wounded and his conduct was of the highest order at all times.
Stanley Tynan died on the 18th January 1945.
