Based at Netheravon. Flew 28 Albemarle sorties on Operation Ladbroke - 27 towing Waco gliders, 1 towing a Horsa glider of the 2nd South Staffordshire Regiment's coup-de-main party.

297 Squadron

Based at Thruxton with Whitley aircraft. Not involved in the Sicily operations.
