On the 14th of July 1943 this N.C.O. was in command of a section which was operating in the high ground South of Catania in Sicily. During the morning the enemy launched a heavy counter attack, and this section was subject to very heavy fire indeed and sustained several casualties. Sergeant Wright displayed great qualities of leadership in continuing to direct the fire of the section against the advancing enemy, inflicting several casualties on them with contributed largely to breaking up the attack. Later he led a small patrol forward under heavy fire and obtained vital information. Throughout the whole action he was an example and an inspiration to all ranks with whom he came in contact.
