On the 14th July south of the River Simeto Sq 9467 Lance-Bombardier Reed coolly drove his Jeep, under fire, at all times. He assisted in bringing in on his car many stretcher cases from the bridge to the Advanced Dressing Station along a fire-swept road. Later he was instrumental in the distribution of reserves of small arms ammunition to Parachute Battalions. His Jeep was holed by small arms fire on more than one occasion. He cheerfulness and devotion to duty was an inspiration to his comrades at all times.
