The identity card of Major Cyrus Manierre; an American member of a Jedburgh Team which was parachuted into southern France in June 1944 to operate alongside the Resistance. Betrayed and handed over to the Gestapo, he was fortunate to avoid execution by claiming to be a downed pilot who was wearing civilian clothes in an attempt to reach the Allied lines. He was sent to Stalag Luft I where he was reunited with his brother, who actually was a bomber pilot. Transferred to North 3 compound, he served as Adjutant to Colonel Gabby Gabreski.
