British and Dominion prisoners after liberation, 16th April 1945. In the centre is a blind South African, Peter Pienaar, who had served with the South African Recce in North Africa where they were attached to 7th Armoured Division, and he was very proud that it was the 7th Armoured who liberated Stalag 357. In the right foreground is his friend and "eyes" Sergeant Bert Barnett of Edinburgh, who was captured in North Africa in 1942. Larger image. Copyright: IWM BU 3707.
