A Christmas postcard from the collection of David Clark Menzies of the 51st Highland Division, captured in May 1940. The original drawing was completed in Stalag XXA, but it was posted from XXB where Menzies passed the remainder of the war. Third from the left on the back row is Lance-Corporal Albert Ernest Threadgale of the Royal Engineers, who was captured at Dunkirk. Born in Brundish, Suffolk, in 1899, he had served in the First World War, where he had a narrow escape when he was shot by a sniper just above by the heart.
