Unit: Royal Tank Regiment, RAC, 2nd Armoured Division.
Captured: Mechili, Libya, 8th April 1941.
Camps: P.G. 78 (15th May 1941 to 12th September 1943), Stalag VIIA (22nd January 1944 to 29th April 1945).
Escapes: Escaped from Sulmona Camp after Italian Armistice. Escaped 12-9-43. Recaptured by Germans at St Ephemia, Italy 1/12/43. Companion RQMS Tait. Recaptured with me. Suffering from malnutrition.
Notes: Was nursed by an Italian woman. Brought from the fields into her house while suffering from congestion of the lungs. Name believed to be Mariana Cantofino. Casa 20. Marani. Nr. Sulmona.
