Marked "Stoke Lads", the seven encircled faces all hail from Stoke-on-Trent and relate to the following names, but only two are specifically identified: Gil Knott (Front row, second from left), Sam Parkes (Basford, middle row fifth from right), McEvoy (Brindley Street), Sgt Jones (Near Stoke station), Caddigan (Burslem), Parker (Burslem), Bagguley (Castle Street). Of those not circled, Elijah Young is second from the right on the middle row, and Gunner Emmanuel Harvey (5th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery) is third from the left on the front row.
