Yugoslav officers. The photograph was stamped as "Stalag 371 C", but as Stalag 371 is in the Ukraine and the photograph was known to be taken at Osnabrück, this, together with the "C", indicates it may be Oflag VIC instead. Furthermore the individual third from the right on the front row is likely Captain Branislav Jeremic (1889-1944), who fought in both world wars, and who is known to have been in Oflag VIC until his death as a result of air raids on 6th December 1944. His son, Jovan Jeremic (1921-1978), is likely second from the right on the middle row, and as he was definitely at Stalag XIIF from 1943 onwards, this photograph was most probably taken between 1941 and 1943. Put to work in a steel mill, Jovan Jeremic was helped to escape and he subsequently joined the French Resistance.
