"You're CHEATING!" The explanation reads: "During the long winter evenings, from 5 p.m. until lights out at 11 p.m., life became almost unbearable, especially as the lights were too dim to allow studying or reading for any length of time. After several months the usual card games and chess began to lose their attraction. It was then that Ludo and even Tiddlywinks and Snakes and Ladders made their appearance."
