1430 - Sappers Thornton, Woodhurst, Harper and L/Cpl Holmes sent to Transit Camp Harwell att 591 Para Sqn RE.

2100 - Glider Party arrived in France at 2100 hours.  Parachutists at 0115 hours.  L/Cpl Holmes found by Sapper Woodhurst with broken arm and leg on the LZ.  Immediate medical attention given by the RAMC and casualty evacuated to UK.

1430 - Normal despatching arrangements commenced.

 

1000 - Sapper Thornton and Cpl Wakefield wounded by mortar fire when crossing bridge over River Orne.  Immediate medical attention.  Sapper Thornton evacuated to the UK.  Sgt Moles, when still under fire, gave all possible attention to the wounded and later retrieved Divisional mail and returned to [DAR6?] (Advance) for fresh transport and subsequently conveyed mail to 5 686.
