For outstanding courage and leadership. At Le Mesnil on the 16th June Lieutenant Miller was Platoon Commander of a forward Platoon which was heavily attacked by the enemy over a period of eight hours. During this period this Platoon was under very heavy mortar and Machine Gun fire and was repeatedly attacked by superior numbers of the enemy. Lieutenant Miller by his courage and complete disregard for his own safety so inspired his Platoon that the position was held against very heavy attacks. On previous occasions Lieutenant Miller has shown daring and courageous leadership in leading patrols which have caused heavy casualties to the enemy.
