No.3 Troop (X Troop)
The personnel of X Troop were foreign citizens who had fled the Nazis to fight in the British Army, and as such they adopted Anglicized names to protect them against reprisals in the event of their capture; these names are included below in brackets. Under "Remarks" is the Commando unit to which they were attached in Normandy, where they served as translators. X Troop suffered severely; 44 men were deployed, 11 were killed and 16 either wounded or taken prisoner.
