Corporal Camille Jouniax
Unit : Armoured Car Squadron, 1st Belgian Brigade.
Army No. : Tpr 4343
Awards : Military Medal
This trooper was a member of a patrol in the Le Bocage area on 21st August 1944. His patrol was pinned to the ground by heavy enemy fire. Armed with a Sten gun he worked his way forward alone until in a position to attack the enemy post. This, in spite of a wound received during his advance, he did with such vigour and determination that the enemy withdrew.
It was entirely due to this soldier's personal bravery and determination that the patrol was able to continue its task. His action greatly encouraged his comrades and directly contributed to the ultimate success of their mission.
