2535285 Private Thomas Hugh Jones, No.21 Platoon, "D" Company, 12th Battalion The Devonshire Regiment. Born in Abergwynfi, South Wales on 9th April 1925, he moved to Bristol and joined the Devons on 20th May 1943. Jones participated in the Battle of Bréville and was one of the few of his platoon to emerge unscathed. Subsequently promoted to Lance-Corporal, he participated in the Ardennes campaign, and in February 1945 was wounded at Venlo in the Netherlands. After the war he married and had two children. He was a successful businessman, having founded Severnside Foods Ltd. and was awarded the Queen's Award for Industry in 1968. He died on the 7th April 1995. Copyright: Warwick Jones.
