Gunner Paul Lazaropoulo

 

Gunner Lazaropoulo of the 4th Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery was killed in a glider which crashed near Brucourt on the 6th June 1944. The following was printed in the Worthing Gazette on the 5th July 1944; "Missing in Normandy: Popular Worthing Singer. Private Paul Lazaropoulo, of an anti-tank battery, whose sister, Mrs. Smith, lives at 62, Haynes-road, Worthing, has been officially reported missing in Normandy. Coming to Worthing 12 years ago, he was employed on government work, being a builder by trade, and was a pupil of Miss Cooper's singing classes in West Worthing. Joining the Army two years ago, he was trained in England. He was well known in the town, and it is hoped that better news will be received about him in the near future."
