Unit : No.9 Flight, "G" Squadron, No.1 Wing, The Glider Pilot Regiment

Army No. : 177502

Awards : Bronzen Kruis

During the action at Arnhem September 17th to 25th this officer showed outstanding coolness and leadership. He was in command of a detachment and was involved in continuous street fighting in the area of Oosterbeek. In the face of continual enemy attacks he formed an obstacle through which the enemy were unable to pass despite continual attacks made by tanks and infantry. He was responsible for the destruction of enemy tanks and self propelled guns which continually attacked his position. Throughout the action this officer displayed remarkable coolness and complete disregard for his own safety. Captain Corrie's stubborn defence of a vital point of the sector was instrumental in averting a serious breakthrough by the enemy.
