Evaded for 7 days. Taken over by Underground Organisation.

I, along with 31 O.R’s, was taken over by the Underground Organisation after evading for 7 days. During the following 3 weeks we hid on farms and on 20 Oct 44 moved South towards the NEDER RHINE.

 

Crossed River west of RENKUM.

Eventually the party grew to over 120 and the river was crossed west of RENKUM. Capt. WAINWRIGHT and C.S.M. GRAINGER of the 156 and 10 Bn, Para Regt recce’d the area. Extremely good work.

 

Some R.A.M.C. personnel attempted to escape South and cross the river at a point near MAURIK on 9 Oct 44. They were:
