Private George Ellingford

Private George Edward Ellingford, 5835386. He was killed in action on the 21st September 1944, aged 21, and has no known grave. The son of John Edward and Mary Ann Ellingford, of Brighton, Sussex, he completed Parachute Course 37 at RAF Ringway in November 1942, and was posted to the Assault Platoon of the 2nd Parachute Battalion, serving with them in North Africa and Italy during 1943. There is some confusion as to what unit he was with at the time Arnhem, it is possible that he was still with the Assault Platoon but there is also evidence that he may have been transferred to "B" Company.
