Captain George Blundell

 

Captain George Blundell, whilst a Lieutenant with the then 151 Parachute Battalion (later the 156) in Delhi, India, 1942. At Arnhem, he was the 4th Parachute Brigade's Intelligence Officer. On Wednesday 20th September 1944, he was with a group from the 156 Battalion who were attempting to fight their way through the woods to Oosterbeek, when he was killed by the explosion from a tank shell. He was 27, and was described by Lance-Corporal Noel Rosenberg as "an amusing character, well liked by all ranks". Thanks to Aart van Uden.
