Sergeants Joseph and George Deliss
Joseph (2nd from the left on the front row) and George Deliss (second from the right on the middle row) with, it is believed, other members of the Pioneer Corps. The brothers, who were Austrian and originally named Delitz, joined the British Army and took on the name Deliss when they volunteered for the Glider Pilot Regiment. Both participated in the Normandy landings with "E" Squadron, carrying men of the 1st Battalion The Royal Ulster Rifles, and later Arnhem, from which it appears that they emerged unscathed.
