Private Frank Burton

Frank "Jock" Burton joined the Army on the 9th September 1938, first serving with the Sherwood Foresters and subsequently the Cameronians. He transferred to the 10th Parachute Battalion in December 1942, joining No.1 Section, No.1 Platoon, "A" Company. At Arnhem on Monday 18th September, Frank Burton was hit by machine gun fire shortly after landing. He was taken prisoner on the following day and it later became necessary to amputate his right leg.
