Lieutenant-Colonel Thompson (second left), the Commander of the 1st Airlanding Light Regiment, helping to unload Headquarters Royal Artillery equipment from a damaged Horsa glider on LZ-Z. The Horsa in question had its wing-tip torn off when it collided with the neighbouring glider moments before landing; these were the first two gliders to land at Arnhem.
