Gerhard Drews, who remarked that he was well treated as a prisoner of war in Britain and returned to Germany after the war to find that he was in a much better physical condition than his parents, who had been bombed-out in their home town of Lübeck. They soon found another home where they all lived until Gerhard married in 1951. He had three daughters. Gerhard Drews died in March 1973, aged 56.
