Ilag
Ilag is an abbreviation of Internierungslager. The Ilags were used to house civilians, typically those living in an occupied country but were citizens of countries with whom Germany was at war, but they also held any civilians who were considered to be enemies of Germany. Where a camp has a "/Z" after it, such as Ilag 7/Z, this stands for Zweiglager and is a sub-branch of the main camp
