Flight Sergeant Frederick William Ambrose (left) with an unknown airman. He was an engineer, with 97 Squadron RAF, whose aircraft crashed near Duisburg on the night of the 28/29th August 1942. Initially sent to Dulag Luft, he was transferred to Stalag Luft I on the 10th May 1943, to Stalag Luft VI on the 31st October 1943, before arriving at Stalag 357 on the 16th July 1944. He was liberated on the 19th April 1945, having "evaded the evacuation of Fallingbostal first party by hiding out with W/O J Warren RCAF attempt proved successful." Copyright: Pam Bradley.
