This website will be constantly updated with new material and to this end I would be most grateful for any assistance in the areas listed below.
The Pegasus Archive is an ongoing project that will, in time cover all of the major airborne operations of the Second World War; from Operations Colossus and Freshman, and the Bruneval Raid, through to North Africa, Italy, Southern France, Greece, the Ardennes, Norway and Denmark, and the Far East. It will take me years to work my way through them all, but I'm constantly working on developing each of them and any help received in the meantime will go a long way to ensuring their success. I would, therefore, be grateful for any assistance whatsoever on laying the foundations of these sites. This can include anything, from the titles of books that address each subject, to veterans accounts, photos, casualty and roll of honour lists, order of battle, etc. If you can help, please write to me at email@example.com.
The Biographies section will be very much an ongoing process, and I only plan to stop once I have run out of people to write about. Any soldier who served in or was attached to the 6th Airborne Division, any Axis soldier who fought against the Division, or any French civilian who lived in the area in which they operated, may all contribute their stories, first or second hand, to the site. So if you have a story to tell please send me an email and share it with me. There is no limit to the length of these stories, they can take the form of a description of a single incident or a complete account of the Normandy campaign. All will be published in full. Background information is also welcome, such as Date/Place of Birth/Death, pre-war life, post-war life, wartime career, marriage, children etc. Photographs are also welcome. If you would like to send a photograph but do not have scanning facilities to email it, then write to me and I'll give you my home address so that you can post it. All photos will be carefully handled and quickly returned in the condition that they came in.
Unit Histories / Order of Battle / Roll of Honour / Awards
The site contains a lot of information on the 6th Airborne Division, but lacks a great deal of detail on the 1st Special Service Brigade, and in particular the 4th Special Service Brigade, 1st Belgian Brigade, Princess Irene Brigade, 13th/18th Royal Hussars, 5th Battalion The Black Watch, 2nd Battalion The Royal Warwickshire Regiment, the 150th and 191st Field Regiments, 65th Medium Regiment and the 60th and 107th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiments, not to mention the German units that opposed them. I would greatly welcome information of any kind on these units, specifically so that I can provide a detailed history of each unit (down to Battalion level), an Order of Battle (down to Platoon or Section level, if possible), a Roll of Honour listing all fatalities sustained as a result of action between the 5th June to mid-September 1944, and a list of gallantry awards that members of the unit received during the Normandy campaign.
If you have access to any photographs that are in any way connected with the 6th Airborne Division or the units that supported or opposed them in Normandy, taken before, during, or after the Normandy campaign, then please get in touch as there is a place for them on the site. If you have access to a scanner you can send the pictures to the following email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, or if you don't then let me know and I'll give you my address, photocopies may suffice but the originals would be better if I could borrow them to scan them myself. All such items will be carefully handled and quickly returned in the same condition.
Do you know of a book in any way connected to the 6th Airborne Division or Normandy that you cannot find listed in the Credits section? If so please write and let me know as I probably don't know about it.
