Formerly of the Royal Artillery.
On 6th June 1944 in the attack on Le Plein this officer was wounded in three places during the first assault, which failed. As soon as his wounds were dressed, he rejoined his men, who inspired by this magnificent example of determination and gallantry, carried the village, killing some 15 Germans and taking approximately 50 prisoners. This Officer previously distinguished himself by escaping while a Prisoner of War from a train which was taking him from Bologna to Germany.
