Lieutenant David Michael de Reuda Winsor
Unit : No.48 (Royal Marine) Commando
Service No. : 305697
Awards : Military Cross
Lieutenant Windsor, of the Royal Army Medical Corps, was awarded the Military Cross for actions that took place before the 4th Special Service Brigade was attached to the 6th Airborne Division.
June 6th and 7th 1944. St Aubin and Langrune.
Throughout the action, the medical personnel have behaved with great gallantry. I attribute this to the training, leadership and personal example under fire of Lieutenant Winsor. He repeatedly attended the wounded under fire both on the beach and in Langrune. His attitude was at all times calm, reassuring and unshaken however heavy the casualties or trying the circumstances. The casualty figures for 48 Commando will bear witness to the magnitude of the tasks which he accomplished successfully.
