Abandoned Horsa gliders on one of the landing zones. Note the numerous anti-glider poles. With its broken wing tip and torn fuselage, the glider in the foreground may have collided with one. The nose area (on the right) has clearly been ripped away and is out of shot, the fate of the glider pilots and perhaps some of the passengers therefore are uncertain. The rear section, however, appears to have been unbolted cleanly, suggesting that it was carrying a vehicle or some item of heavy equipment which was successfully unloaded. Copyright: British Pathe.
