The Caen Canal can be seen at the bottom of the photograph, with the three gliders of the Coup de Main force visible slightly to the top right of the bridge. In the centre is the River Orne, No.6 Platoon's glider can be seen in the lower right hand half of LZ-Y, to the left of the bridge, while No.5 Platoon's Horsa is on the extreme centre left.
