RASC Air Despatch Units

 

48 Air Despatch Group

HQ at Poulton, near Cirencester. The group's air-despatch companies were 233, 799, and 800. All were based on or near to the Dakota squadron airfields of 46 Group. Most of this group acted as despatchers with 48 Group, but some also flew in the Stirlings of 38 Group during the later stages of the Arnhem resupply operation.

 

49 Air Despatch Group

HQ at Down Ampney. The despatchers of this unit were drawn from 63 and 253 Light Composite Companies. All or most of them flew in the Stirlings of 38 Group.
