A 3-inch mortar team of the 1st Border's No.23 Mortar Platoon in action, bombarding enemy positions, caught on film by Sergeant Smith on the 20th or 21st September. Private Ron "Ginger" Tierney is the man closest to the camera, Corporal Jim McDowell stands on the far side of the mortar pit, whilst in the extreme centre-right, almost out of shot, is Private Norman "Jock" Knight.
