Private Victor Gibson
7612322 Private Victor Gibson of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, attached to 1st Airborne Division Headquarters. He is officially reported to have been killed in action on the 18th September 1944, but Lieutenant Chidgey, of the 1st Airborne Divisional Ordnance Field Park, distinctly recalls giving morphine to Gibson after he was wounded during the withdrawal across the Rhine on the night of the 25/26th September. What became of him thereafter is a mystery. It was believed that he had died in captivity, but there are no records of him being a prisoner and he has no known grave. He was 25 years old, and was survived by his wife, Clara, of Nottingham. Thanks to Aart van Uden.
